Minehead Dementia Action Gardening Group

Enjoy Gardening, Fresh Air and Friendship in Blenheim Gardens.

When We Meet

First session: Wednesday 22nd July 2026
Time: 2.00pm – 3.30pm
Meeting point: By the café in Blenheim Gardens, Minehead

Following the launch, the group will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 2.00pm to 3.30pm.

Who Can Attend?

The Minehead Dementia Action Gardening Group offers a welcoming opportunity for people living with dementia, memory loss, and their carers to enjoy time outdoors, connect with others and help care for a community flower bed in the beautiful surroundings of Blenheim Gardens, Minehead.

Thanks to the support of Minehead Town Council, we have been given responsibility for one of the flower beds near the café. Together, group members can help with planting, watering, weeding and general upkeep, while enjoying conversation, companionship and the wellbeing benefits that spending time in nature can bring.

Our gardening sessions are relaxed and informal, with no expectation to take part in gardening activities if you would prefer not to. Benches are located alongside the flower bed, providing a comfortable place to sit, chat and enjoy the gardens. Whether you are an experienced gardener or have never picked up a trowel before, everyone is welcome.

As a local dementia support group in Minehead, Minehead Dementia Action understands the importance of providing opportunities for people affected by dementia to remain active, socially connected and involved in their community.

The Gardening Group is open to:

  • People living with dementia or experiencing memory loss

  • Family carers and supporters attending alongside them

  • Volunteers who would like to support the group as part of the Minehead Dementia Action volunteer team

No gardening experience is required, and all activities can be adapted to suit different abilities and levels of participation.
